Personal wealth planning for one or two

One person or two. No blended answers.

See when work could become optional. For one person or two.

Start with a complete one-person plan or add a second person and keep both routes distinct. Compass separates accessible and locked wealth, maps the years ahead and compares what the next available euro could do.

One product, two native modes

Start with the structure that is actually yours.

The choice changes the calculation, interface, history and snapshot. It is not a visual filter.

Planning alone

One person. One complete route.

Every active asset, cost, home position and decision belongs to the one-person plan. Inactive second-person data does not affect the active calculation.

  • Personal FI date and access bridge
  • Full ownership and cost allocation
  • One-person history and snapshot
Planning together

Two people. Two routes. One household view.

Each person remains visible while shared cash flows, ownership and the home connect the plan where they should.

  • Separate FI dates and account access
  • Explicit contribution and ownership shares
  • One coordinated household position

A plan should fit the life behind it

Planning alone needs one complete path.
Planning together needs two paths and one shared view.

Compass starts by asking whether you are planning for yourself or for two people. It then applies the same disciplined access, cash-flow, home and FI logic without inventing a second person or blending two people into one average.

When could I choose to work less, based on money I can actually access?

One-person path

If two of us share the plan, when could each person step back?

Two-person paths

Where could the next available €500 go, and what trade-off would that create?

One person means one real plan

One-person mode assigns costs, assets, home equity and decisions to the active plan. Inactive second-person data is excluded from the active result.

What changes

The model does not remove uncertainty.
It makes assumptions and trade-offs visible.

You choose the structure, assumptions and decision. Compass keeps the evidence visible whether the plan contains one person or two.

How the model thinks

Three rules keep the projection
disciplined.

I

Start with the number of people, not a default household.

One person or two

One-person mode builds one complete route. Two-person mode calculates both routes independently and then connects them through shared cash flows and home ownership.

II

Money you own is not always money you can use.

Access first

Accessible investments and age-locked accounts follow different timelines. The model tests whether the years before access are funded instead of treating every euro as immediately available.

III

A forecast matters only when it improves a decision.

The next euro

Compass compares accessible investing, mortgage repayment, home value and cash. It shows the trade-off and stops there. The choice remains yours.

Who it is built for

For people who have
outgrown generic calculators.

Useful whether you are planning independently or with another person, especially when finances span several accounts, access ages, ownership shares or planning horizons.

Not designed as a tax return, investment recommendation, pension quotation or substitute for regulated professional advice.
You want a complete personal plan without fake second-person inputs.

One-person mode excludes inactive second-person assets, costs and history from active results.

Or you plan with another person and need both routes visible.

Different incomes, contribution rates, ownership and work timelines remain explicit.

Your wealth sits in more than one place.

Cash, accessible investments, pension accounts, a home and debt all matter differently.

You value privacy and control.

You prefer a local file, your own backups and no bank connection.

From figures to a usable plan

Set it up once.
Return when life changes.

01

Start with the essentials

Names, ages, net income, accessible investments, cash, monthly contributions, personal spending and an optional home.

02

Add the structure that matters

Account access ages, employer contributions, debt, mortgage parts, ownership, shared costs and scenario assumptions.

03

Review the same questions again

Update the actual position, compare the projection with prior reviews and create a fresh snapshot when the plan changes.

One local file, structured model

Private by design.
Detailed when needed.

Compass is a self-contained HTML product. Open it in a modern desktop browser, keep it locally and retain control of the data. No account, cloud database or bank connection is required.

It is a decision-support model, not financial, tax, pension, legal or mortgage advice. Country templates organize assumptions. They do not reproduce a tax return. The Netherlands template applies a flat interest-relief and imputed-value percentage; real Dutch rules use brackets and the WOZ scale, so treat it as a planning approximation and check it against your own assessment. Your figures stay on your device, which also means Compass cannot protect them: anyone with access to the device, the browser profile or a backup file can read them, and browser storage can be cleared. The transfer file is the durable copy.
One-person and two-person modes

Choose the structure at setup and switch later without deleting data. Active-mode calculations, screens, history entries and standalone snapshots exclude inactive person data. A transfer file retains it so you can switch back later.

Accounts and access

Accessible and locked accounts, unlock ages, withdrawal tax, employer match and contribution relief.

Home and mortgage

Ownership, loan parts, declining balances, home value and optional equity release.

Three scenarios

Prudent, Base and Favorable assumptions without changing the underlying data.

Review history

Store review dates and compare prior projections with the current position.

Offline snapshot

Export a clean standalone HTML summary without exposing the working model.

40 software integrity checks

Controls covering model structure, plan mode, accounts, access, history, localization and product integrity.

English, Dutch and local backup

Switch language without altering entered data, and export or import your plan as JSON.

Before you buy

The practical questions,
answered plainly.

No. Compass is a self-contained HTML file that opens in a modern desktop browser. It behaves like a local application without requiring installation, an account or a cloud connection.

The product itself runs locally and does not send entered plan data to Mentat Ledger. Browser storage and transfer files remain on your device unless you choose to share them.

Yes. One-person mode is a native product mode, not a two-person plan with zero values. Inactive second-person data is excluded from active-mode assets, costs, home equity, decisions, history entries and standalone snapshots. The complete transfer file retains it so you can switch back later.

In two-person mode, differences in timing, ownership and access matter. The model calculates both routes independently and then shows how shared cash flows and home ownership connect them.

You can change the mode in Settings. Existing second-person data is retained in the complete transfer file, excluded from active-mode calculations and standalone outputs, and restored if you switch back to a two-person plan.

No. Country templates organize display conventions and configurable account assumptions. They are not tax calculations, legal advice or substitutes for professional guidance.

A purchase includes support for product use and confirmed technical defects, plus corrected releases within the purchased major version as described in the licence.

No. Compass is an educational decision-support tool. Outcomes depend on your figures and assumptions. Verify important decisions with a qualified professional where appropriate.
